Easy Planner Set Up for a Child

My daughter is 6 years old now.  I bought her a cute small weekly planner:
I was unsure of if I want her to use a planner before, but now I am glad that I boight it, because:
1. She learned every week day very quickly because they are pre-printed for her
2. She has learned counting beyond 20 quicker because she has written the dates all by herself,  with my little guidance.

3. She has learned quickly her different daily schedule - every day after a kindergarden she has some kind of a  lesson - dance,  art, sport. Every day we go somewhere,   except Saturdays. I taught her to write on a flag what kind of a lesson she has, the weekday, the start  time and end time. For 6 days, except Saturday, she has a flag. When the day is over, she moves the flag to the next week on the same day.

4. After each day is over, she also writes what  was the most impressive/memorable that day. It encourage her to write more and read. This little journalling is her most favorable feature in her planner.   It also teaches her to write grammatically correct, because she shows me what she's written,  and I correct it.
5. She crosses each day at the end of the day, this way she knows what day she is now into.

6 She also knows what month it is now because they are also pre-printed. And she will learn quickly what the order of each month is because she likes to flip planner's pages.

What do you think of it?  Would you teach your child how to use a planner?
P.S  She has asked for her own Filofax. I am thinking of it!

How to make a Malden Filofax Skinny

Due to the zippered pocket on the inner left cover, all Maldens tends to get fat. That is exactly the reason why I tend not to stuff it. Paperclips are the most bulky items that are usually occupy it.

Btw, do you know why the left side if the cover is always shorter than the right side? For the same reason! Too many things in the zippered pocket and the pockets behind it!

The hardest thing to do with filofax

What to you find to be the most difficult to do with your filofax?
I often find myself not opening it when I got home. Oh, I have so much to do-home chores (cooking from scratch that is ACTUALLY slow cooking, cleaning sometimes), my daughter's homework (we prepare for entering the 1st grade at school), plus my tiredness after full time job, and late time when we come home (after 7 pm with something), plus my daughter has to go sleep at 9 pm, and usually don't,  it  all eat up my energy and even IF I open my filofax, I often just don't have energy for something EXTRA to do. Often I just DON'T remember to open up my filofax.
I'm not complaining.  I am grateful for my life. And I think I have a pretty much usual full time  working mom life style.

What do you do in these cases? Do you open your filofax anyway?

What do I Want from my Planner (Filofax)?

  1. To see everything I need to do today/this week/this month  at a glance with hour slots
  2. to have slots for my monthly, weekly, and daily goals
  3. possibility to track achievement of my monthly,  weekly,  daily goals at a glance
  4. projects with relevant to each  project  tasks, as well as  routine tasks built into my daily routine should be visible at a glance
  5. each project, task, routine task should be placed into the right category that I have assigned it to
  6. each category should be color coded with the colors that I chose
  7. color coding should be happening by itself,  without switching gazillions of pens!
  8. to quickly find what I need
  9. possibility NOT to rewrite my tasks from my monthly to my weekly to my daily pages
  10. to have enough space to put it into personal size filofax sheets
  11. to have enough space for each day
  12. to have the same space for my Saturdays and Sundays as for the rest of the week
  13. to pay my morgage for me-well, I'm kidding with this one!
  14. to have my daily routine built into my daily schedule, without having an extra page for it, and without my rewriting it every day!
  15. Even with everything above, still have 11 exta pages with space equal to a daily page!
  16. To be able to write an appointment or a to-do on any place on my daily page and AFTER that schedule it on any hour slot without rewriting it!

Does this planner sounds like something that is too fantastic, something, that couldn't be made?  Well, I have created that kind of planner! I'm putting this announcement so I won't rest too much, like a motivation to continue to make it. I have created June pages for the personal size filofax pages to print on A4 pages. Letter size printing is next!

Would you like to have that kind of a planner? What else would you want from your planner/filofax?
